Dear website visitors, I´m sure you had moments in your life you´ll never forget. I had one of those moments back in the 70´s when I first layed eyes on a Great Dane. Such an appearance, such a personality, such a gorgeous dog. In 1981 I got the chance to buy my very own dog and of course I didn’t need to think twice which breed it should be. I gathered some information at the Great Dane Club in the Netherlands and then I went to buy a black male puppy from a local breeder. Unfortunally this dog didn´t get older as 6 months. So we bought a fawn male which stole our hearts and made us lovers of this breed forever. When our male died in 1986 we bought our first female, the harlequin «Lysanda vom Äquator». This beautiful import dog from Germany had exactly the personality you always read about. Wonderfull. Unfortunally we never used her for breeding purposes because we didn´t have such ambitions back then. Things changed when we bought the harlequin «Funny Topaz» in 1993 and our interest in breeding began to grow. In 1995 we registered «FORTUNELLO» as our affix. Funny was matched in 1996 with the French sire «Filko de l´Ábbaye de Belle Etoile» but it didn´t produce any puppies. Our first puppies were born on 4. January 1996 out of matching «Imainou vom Münsterland» with «Funny Topaz». We kept two puppies, the black male Ainou and the harlequin female Astree. On 27. December 1997 Funny´s second litter was born. This time the father was the Dutch harlequin «Hubble-Bubble von der Feldblume». The only dog we kept was the black female Bagheera. At this point we decided to discontinue using Funny as a breeding dog and instead give her a well-deserved old age. We got our third litter from our Astree and the Belgian harlequin sire «Valdèz de Royal Topaz». The very promising male Calvaro is living in France together with Bagheera’s sister, and we hope he will participate at shows. For actual information about a litter see Puppies on our home page.
