Our Objective: The preservation and patronage of healthy pedigree dogs

One of our goals is the public’s familiarization with healthy Yorkshire Terriers, which are to be made more popular. Further, we try to support the cultivation of the dialogue between kynological corporate bodies. Pedigree dogs are subject to breeding rules. The goal of these rules is to promote and support pedigree dog breeding in the sense of preventing cruelty to animals. Doing this, the statutes are not being placed above the law. However, before our union issues a genealogical entry, a litter certificate is needed. On this paper, a veterinarian confirms the health of the pups when they are about nine weeks old.

References and successes

The breeders in the Swiss Yorkshire Terrier Club (SYC) within the scope of the European Dogsport Union (EHU/ÖKC) breed one third of all Yorkshire Terriers in Switzerland. The members of the Swiss Yorkshire Terrier Club won in only three years (92-95) at open-unional exhibitions more than 300 cups (more than 2500 pounds) and certificates, various EHU-World Winner- and Champion titles and produce the absolute leading dog breeding standard of healthy Yorkshire Terriers in Switzerland.

Club life

Once every month the members of the SYC, young and old, meet somewhere in Switzerland, together with their dogs. The program range varies from a dinner in a comfortable atmosphere, yearly barbecues and small walking tours. You are kindly invited to to take part on these events, together with your well-groomed Yorkshire Terrier, who will certainly find other healthy friends soon. Join in, we welcome you.

Club periodical

Every member receives the “Hunde-Journal” (Dog Journal), the official publication of the European Dogsport Union. Further, you will receive the SYC’s informations in the journal titled “Our Dogs”, in which we publish our exhibition dates, hints and articles dealing with present-day subjects of the SYC.

Other dog breeds

Recently, we register more and more accessions of new members and respectable breeders of other dog breeding as “Teckel”, Poodles or Chihuahuas. The managing committee of the SYC therefore decided to admit these members into divisions based on race. Their goal is to support these divisions until, in the end, they become independent clubs. Together with these associations the SYC will found an alternative Swiss federation within the scope of the European Dogsport Union (EHU).

Joining the SYC

The SYC offers admittance to every dog owner and conscientious dog breeder. Friends of pedigree dogs as well as supporters of our association are welcome. The admittance takes place via e-mail or by paying the membership fee onto our bank account. Only the association’s asset guarantees as a liability.
