Dog – Hitchcock with the pedigrees
You should know that EHU does not strive for monopoly in pedigree dog breeding. The aiming for a monopoly would be expressed by not admitting pedigrees of other dogsport unions, by not admitting dogs from other, competing federations to exhibitions and breeding. Also, it would be expressed by rejection of double-memberships of their members, and similar rules and prohibitions.
Such exhibitions are called closed-unional exhibitions which are being organized by unions and federations with a closed structure. Such pedigree dog unions literally pursue misuse of their organization’s power to a maximum extent. The members are being kept away from competing unions. In some cases it is even prohibited for members to take part in open-unional exhibitions or to make their stud males available to competing breeders. This equals to material expropriation by the union itself and means, that there is no free competition (the forming ofan opinion and freedom of choice), although the promotion of the pedigree dog should be the alleged true founding idea of every dog breeding federation.
The exhibitions under the patronage of the European Dogsport Union (EHU) are open-unional exhibitions. As a member or owner of a pedigree dog of the largest European kynological umbrella organization you are welcome together with your quadruped friend in other open unions too. Of course you are treated in a fair way, which means you will not have to face higher starting fees or other harassments.
Today there probably are more open unions than dog breeds (races).
You now can distinguish between open-unional and closed-unional dogsport federations. In open-unional federations pedigrees of foreign or competing federations are being acknowledged, except if the federation can’t show a studbook, in which the litters of the pedigree dogs are registered.
In closed-unional federations, of which there’s only one left in Europe, pedigrees of many federations are being knowingly denied. Only in very rare and compelling cases and taking disproportionately high fees, such pedigrees are being acknowledged. Such dogs are called “registered dogs” which are being treated as being of secondary importance and are being reprimanded. Such habits are practiced only in closed-unional federations and mainly serve as a source of income for the federation. This con game in form of a federation concept is excused with the statement, that other federations are not acknowledged internationally. This suggesting propaganda becomes understandable, if one takes into consideration that the leading persons of this certain umbrella organization proceed on the assumption that statutes are laws, and that the organization is a state-based legislative body with executive power.

Explanation of the verdict: It is immoral to claim, the FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale) was the only worldwide acknowledged federation.
Incidentally, it was Mr. Walter Winkler, Salzburg, president of the European Dogsport Union (EHU), in that time acting secretary-general of the old UCI, which was founded in 1908, who in 1965 registered UCI as the first kynological umbrella organization under King Baudouin. Only following, FCI, which was founded many years later, came to the idea to register too as a kynological umbrella organization. Answering a letter, the Swiss Government wrote to the Swiss Yorkshire Terrier Club, that in Switzerland too, the democratic rules can not be sacrificed for a monopoly in pedigree dog breeding. It’s out of question that there is a monopoly in pedigree dog breeding.
